I'm a Rotarian because of very fond memories. (Soy rotario por los buenos recuerdos). Rotary reminds me of my Grand Father who was a charter member of the San Luis Potosi RC in 1925 and District Governor in 1943/1944 and was a roll model for me. (Rotatory me recuerda a mi abuelo que fue un miembro fundador del C.R. San Luis Potosi en 1925 y Gobernador de Distrito en 1943/1944 y fue un modelo para mí). It brings my youth up front as I remember going with my Father to International Conventions, District Conferences, parties and Club meetings. (Trae mi juventud de vuelta cuando recuerdo ir con mi Padre a Convenciones Internacionales, las Conferencias del Distrito, las fiestas y las reuniones de los clubes).
The first time I spoke in public, was to my fathers RC at our return from the International Convention on November 13th, 1957, I was seven. (La primera vez que hablé en público, fue en el Club Rotario de mi padre cuando regresamos de la Convención Internacional el 13 de noviembre del 1957, Tenía yo 7 años). My Father was also District Governor, 50 years after my Grand Father in 1993/1994. (Mi padre fue también Gobernador de Distrito, 50 años después de mi abuelo en 1993-94). I'm a Rotarian, because most of my friends are Rotarians, because Rotary has been a University for me. (Soy Rotario, porque la mayor parte de mis amigos lo son, porque Rotary ha sido una Universidad de conocimiento para mi). It has taught me to listen instead of just hearing, to communicate instead of just talking, to coordinate instead of leading, it has taught me the greatness of some and the humility of others. ( Me ha enseñado a escuchar en vez de sólo oir, comunicarme en vez de solamente hablar, coordinar en vez de dirigir, me ha enseñado la grandeza de algunos y la humildad de otros). It has taught me to be a good person. (Me ha ensñado a ser una buena persona) I'm a Rotarian because I like to serve and help people, and Rotary gives me the opportunity to do so in an organized and international manner. (Soy un Rotario porque me gusta servir y ayudar a los demas, y Rotary me da la oportunidado de hacerlo de forma organizada internacionalmente). I'm a Rotarian, because I'm VERY proud of what we do. (Soy un Rotario, porque estoy MUY orgulloso de lo que hacemos.
